Zandelle is the Final Inductee to the Bullspike Radio Hall Of Fame Class of 2013

We are proud to announce that New York's own Zandelle is the last inductee to the Bullspike Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2013.

Whenever people in the rock and metal world think of power metal they think European bands. But Zandelle has changed that thinking by proving that its not about where you are from but the music you bring to the world. They have shown that world that power metal can be born and thrive in the US.

There last studio album, Shadows Of The Past was met with much acclaim from people all around the world. And despite line up changes throughout the years they continue to rock on to make there place in the world of rock and metal.

It is for these reasons that we are proud to have Zandelle be the final inductee to the Bullspike Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2013.

Disable The Pity Party

I normally don't write about things like I am setting out for you right now but today my proverbial button was pushed. Today the Today Show decided to share a story they felt was news worthy and inspirational about Shane Burcaw who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (the same neuromuscular disorder I have). And at first you'd think "Great Idea" yet upon reading the article and Shane's blog this is a horrible idea.

The entire story is about how Shane has a "fatal and debilitating" disease and how his college friends are taking him around the country to travel and inspire people. But how can he be inspirational when his story is essentially "feel sorry for me cause I feel sorry for myself and I'm going to die."  And his self pity party is worse then the article shows as he was once part of an online group of individuals with neuromuscular disorders that I am part of and once he realized everyone in the group was more interested in celebrating what we've done with our lives in spite of the disability he left the group as it wasn't a group of people going "so who didn't die today?"

NEWSFLASH Shane, WE ALL ARE GOING TO DIE. Healthy and/or disabled.

Now, you might take this as jealousy since he's getting national attention. But it's not the case. I have never deemed my disability, same as Shane's, to be a death sentence. Nor do I let it define me. I am an individual that happens to be disabled not the other way around.

The fact that the media is continuing to hold back the disabled by sharing these pity party stories disgusts me. I am the first in my family to graduate college, have my own Internet radio show, co own Bullspike Radio, co founded Rock Against Dystrophy, gone to countless concerts with friends and family, gone on several vacations with friends and family, and recently began DJing in local rock/metal bars and I'm far from death row or stopping anytime soon. And might I add that none of my friends became so because they took pity on me. They wanted to know me, not my disability, ME. I've even become friends with listeners of my radio show who had no clue I was disabled until they met me in person at a concert nor did it change their thoughts towards me once they knew.

Furthermore, there are countless others with disabilities who are out there busting there ass in spite of their disabilities yet none of us are getting recognized.   They are lawyers, artists, accountants, teachers, and more and NOT letting their disability decide their fate for them.

Please start acknowledging individuals who see themselves first as an individual and disabled second and STOP feeding these self hating, self pitying people because they DO NOT represent the disabled population of the world.

LIONIZE Begin Work on New Album - Announce Select Headline Dates

Fresh off an extensive North American tour with Clutch, D.C. groove rockers LIONIZE are preparing to head back into the studio to work on their next album.  The band has confirmed four dates for the summer months and will continue to play one-off shows while they work on the follow up to Superczar and the Vulture.  Dates are below.

Frontman Nate Bergman spoke about heading back into the studio and playing out this Summer:

"We just finished up a huge North American tour with Clutch, we are excited to get into our basement and work on a new batch of songs. Along with spending the summer writing we are doing some special headlining shows in DC, Delaware and Pittsburgh. We are going to be introducing a lot of new material at these shows and working out the material live. Each show will be a unique set list as always and some older tunes along with the newer stuff will be on the menu. We are looking forward to this summer of LIONIZE

For a band with so little pretense, sometimes it can be easy to forget just how much LIONIZE accomplished since their inception in 2004.  From being the first band to play both Bonnaroo and the Vans Warped Tour in the same year to their five full-length albums to virtually non-stop touring year after year, the groove-heavy rock group has dared to do more than most bands could ever hope to accomplish.

LIONIZE Live:
7/3: Washington, DC @ The Rock and Roll Hotel
7/4: Rehoboth Beach, DE @ Dogfish Head
7/6: Pittsburgh, PA @ Altar Bar
8/10: Sharon, PA @ Quaker Steak & Lube

ZED Premiere Lyric Video at RevolverMag.com

Great Rock and Roll doesn't just happen. It's made. With sweat, swagger and alcohol. And ZED makes rock the way it should be made. Loud guitars, a shot of whiskey and a middle finger.  ZED's latest album Desperation Blues was released on May 21st and the critical acclaim continues to come in.

Today ZED has partenered up with RevolverMag.com the online home of Revolver Magazine, for an exclusive premiere of the band's new lyric video.  The video is for the song "More".  Check it out HERE.

Desperation Blues is streaming in its entirety HERE.

The band recently completed work on a video for the first single from the album entitled "Please".  Check it out on their YouTube Channel HERE.

Desperation Blues is available for order from ZED's store HERE.  The album can also be ordered on Amazon and iTunes.

San Francisco Bay Area's ZED takes it cues from the greats like Zeppelin, Sabbath and AC/DC, but combines them with their contemporary musical influences such as Clutch, Rage Against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age, creating a mixture that is new, yet familiar. With this explosive sound they are bringing back the guts, the grit and the balls to Rock. And they won't stop until they succeed. At least in getting drunk and having a good time.

In June of 2012 ZED entered Sonic Room Studios with Tim Narducci engineering and producing their sophomore album Desperation Blues. With the studio expertise that he gained from working with greats like Bob Rock (Metallica, The Cult) and Howard Benson (P.O.D., My Chemical Romance), Narducci was able to harness the raw energy and essence of ZED in a way that had not been done before. And what they came out with was 46 minutes of giant, hook filled riffing, crafted into 10 songs that make up one beast of an album.

ZED on Tour:
June 28 - The Annex, San Lorenzo, CA
July 18 - The Black Forest - Eugene OR
July 19 - The Red Room - Portland OR
July 20 - El Corazon - Seattle WA
August 3 - The Red Hat - Walnut Creek, CA

BLACK WATER RISING Confirm Release Date Unveil Artwork and Tracklisting for Pissed and Driven

BLACK WATER RISING is back with the follow up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut.  Today the band has confirmed a July 30th release date through Metalville/E1 for their sophomore album Pissed and Driven.  The band has also unveiled the cover art and tracklisting for the album.  The album art was created by Jan Yrlund of Darkgrove Design (Manowar, TYR).

Drummer Mike Meselsohn cannot wait for fans to hear the new music:

"We are really psyched to get this new album out to our fans. They've been waiting a while for the follow-up to our debut and I don't think they'll be disappointed. The title says it all and it's reflected in the energy and aggression of the cover art and music. We're ready to take this to the next level!"

The first single from Pissed and Driven "Show No Mercy" was #5 most added on the CMJ Loud Rock Chart, already top 10 at many college radio stations and in heavy rotation at Nationally Syndicated Cable channel Music Choice sitting at #6 on their Metal Chart this week.  The song can be streamed HERE and is available for purchase on iTunes.

BLACK WATER RISING was formed from the ashes of various national touring acts. After releasing two self produced albums nationwide with a band called Dust To Dust, singer songwriter Rob Traynor locked himself away in his Brooklyn, New York recording studio, later emerging with a collection of songs that would become the seeds of BLACK WATER RISING.

Invigorated and eager to capitalize on the success of their debut album, the band's new material promises to be riff heavy and proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional hard rock and metal song writing with hooks and catchy choruses to pull you in and leave you wanting more.

Pissed and Driven Tracklisting:
1. Show No Mercy
2. Last Man Standing
3. Pissed And Driven
4. Dance With The Devil
5. Along For The Ride
6. Fire It Up
7. All Gone
8. The Allure Of Self Destruction
9. Broken Man
10. We Are The Authority

HUNTRESS Hosting "Virtual Yard Sale" For Mayhem Festival Tour Support

HUNTRESS has generated a massive amount of buzz since the release of their debut album Spell Eater in 2012. The follow up to last year's kill is Starbound Beast, to be released on July 2nd during the band's run with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Huntress is about to embark on the biggest tour opportunity of their new career, as well as the most demanding and expensive. HUNTRESS has teamed up with fellow Mayhem brothers Battlecross to share the cost for a bus this summer, since their tour vans can't handle the extreme heat. And that is only the beginning of the financial strain for a young metal band with minimal tour support.

HUNTRESS has started an indiegogo (Virtual Yard Sale) campaign to ensure their participation in the festival. Check out their indiegogo page HERE, featuring enticing packages and unique collector items. Some of the perks offered are signed CD DigiPaks and Vinyl of their upcoming album Starbound Beast, and packages that feature tickets to Mayhem Festival plus hang outs with the band. Water balloon fights, parking lot BBQs and Astrological readings with Jill Janus are also offered up for sacrifice. Some of the most exclusive perks include the sword prop and red cloak from the "Eight of Swords" video, and Blake's 1979 Custom GMC Vandura. More items and unique opportunities will be added as well.

In more HUNTRESS related Mayhem news, vocalist Jill Janus will host the first ever Shred-Meister guitar competition.  Festival attendees can go to the Jägermeister tents on site and audition for a chance to shred for 10 seconds on the main stage. Each day, one of the 10 finalists will win a custom Jägermeister guitar from Schecter and the overall winner at the end of the tour will win a custom Jägermeister full stack and head courtesy of Peavey Electronics.

Starbound Beast will be released on June 28th in Europe and on July 2nd in North America via Napalm Records.  The band recorded the album at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles, CA, working with famed producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front).  The artwork for Starbound Beast was created once again by Vance Kelly (Slayer, Ghost B.C., Mastodon).

HUNTRESS has just revealed the first song off the new record titled "I Want to Fuck You to Death", co-written by Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. To hear the streaming version now, check out the HUNTRESS Facebook Page.  Click the "LIKE US TO DEATH" tab or visit this direct link: https://www.facebook.com/HuntressKills/app_469513749793564

HUNTRESS was spawned from the preternatural union of Jill Janus with underground metal bands Professor and Dark Black. They thrive on thundering drums, heavy riffs, spectral solos and catchy choruses that come from the band's musical concoction of occult science and bong rips. HUNTRESS remains true to the roots of melodic heavy metal with a penchant for thrash, death and black metal.

DEVILDRIVER Announce Album Title - Unveil Cover Art - Confirm Release Date

DEVILDRIVER have confirmed that the title of their new album is Winter Kills.  The album will be released worldwide on August 27th.  The band recorded the album in Florida at Audio Hammer Studios and vocals in Los Angeles, CA at Dez's home studio with Mark Lewis (Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, All That Remains) handling production duties.

The artwork for Winter Kills features a photograph by Dean Karr.  The layout was done by Ryan Clark/Invisible Creature.

DEVILDRIVER has worked with Lewis previously on "Beast" and "The Last Kind Words" and producer Mark Lewis's prolific leadership of the new school of metal has yet again helped DEVILDRIVER deliver another Epic heavy Metal record.  This record melds what the band does best. In your face power as well as the California Groove sound the band pioneered.

DEVILDRIVER has always been a band on a three-pronged mission: Work hard, rock harder, and kick as many asses as possible in the process. The band tours forever and has since its beginnings. Their live performances and circle pits are as legendary as their music.

"This is by far DEVILDRIVER's most cohesive, powerful, groove laden record to date! We delivered our signature California Groove sound alongside a Raw and Biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink, and reshape another different sounding unique piece of Rock-N-Roll! Cutting our own path is something to be proud of. DEVILDRIVER has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record, we cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of Metal and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!"

Hail RockNRoll
Dez FaFara

The band will be hitting the road worldwide in support of Winter Kills.  Touring as always will be a focal point for the band. The US can expect to see them this fall and winter with Europe and the rest of the globe coming in 2014 and beyond. Additional information on Winter Kills will be made available shortly.
